Brave has released their second full-length album Monuments; they are fronted by a great operatic singer Michelle Loose. Brave’s dark, gothic, symphonic, progressive music stands out than most of the female fronted bands of the subgenres. Brave’s music features some interesting violin playing. At times that instrument takes a dominant role in the songs, where you’d likely hear the guitar or perhaps a keyboard. This works fairly well, the only other example of such a thing would be the band Kansas where they successfully incorporated the violin which is not so common in rock. The song structures are kept simple and I think that is key to keeping the listener engaged in the experience. Monuments could very well be the album that assists in getting them signed to a major independent label in North America. This band could be just as a big as a band like Evanescence here in America or at the very least carve themselves a slice of the Lacuna Coil fan base.
