The Pivotal Rage Webzine was launched in December 2003 by founder Leevan Macomeau. Leevan initially volunteered to take part in the creation of a webzine by fellow music fans but the website and staff had not materialized after months of waiting, so Leevan took over the entire project and enlisted the proper support needed to create and publish the Pivotal Rage website. Through his extensive contacts via the online music community, Leevan was able to assemble many like-minded individuals with the desire to promote heavy music.
Throughout the years, both freelance and exclusive writers have shown their passion and versatility in the music industry via Pivotal Rage, so much so that some have even gone on to write for major magazines such as Metal Maniacs, Pit Magazine, and Hails & Horns. Some of our writers’ other accomplishments include a live touring stint with The Absence (Derek Hubbard), the founding and operating of the Pivotal Rockordings LLC record label (Leevan, Alexi Front, Steven Seebode), and even teaching in college (Jason E. Goltz) just to name a few.
Now years since its inception, the Pivotal Rage Webzine has published reviews and interviews of bands from all over the globe ranging from elite veterans such as Lamb of God, Static-X, Megadeth and Henry Rollins all the way to unheard of and unsigned artists, including every band in between. In September 2006, Pivotal Rage unveiled its third layout design which embodied the LITE philosophy, boasting the slogan “Same great taste, less filler” which represents the site’s return to content focused on reviews, interviews, unsigned bands, and a
podcast (the great taste) while excluding past content such as concert reviews and news among other sub-par sections (the filler).
A hotbed for aspiring writers and home to seasoned musical enthusiasts, Pivotal Rage is now officially part of the Pivotal Rockordings LLC record label and continues to carve out its reading audience with no slowing down in sight.
